For instance, amidst the infinite variety of nature insect metamorphosis demonstrates a not yet understood (i.e. occult) scientific fact.

"Of the various wonders of insect life, none is more difficult to understand than the metamorphosis.

Certainly the ability of the soul to live in and function through an inner-plane form after the dissolution of the physical is no more amazing.

Primitive insects do not experience this change (i.e. metamorphosis), but hatch as miniature adults.

More advanced insects show only a partial metamorphosis - the change from the larval stage is made by a series of moults that do not prevent feeding.

But in the higher forms the insect hatches from the egg as a larva that feeds voraciously and grows rapidly.

Then comes the pupal stage in which there is no external activity. Here the insect exists in a trance, or comatose condition.

While in this trance state the tissues break down and form a homogeneous fluid underneath the external skeleton of the insect."

It thus precisely resembles the ectoplasm which emanates from a medium during materialization.
