This method of testing is first to secure all the facts possible about the matter. Consult those who oppose as well as those who advocate. Then consider what the individuals or groups are trying to sell, and what methods are open to them to create a favourable sentiment.

Under such rigid scrutiny...you may not be quite so keen to walk a mile for a smoke. You may be convinced your political party will not be able to save the nation at once. And you may find yourself relinquishing some religious belief or some pet doctrine.
